Winter Dry Skin Treatments

Have you had clients tell you I feel like my skin is all going to flake off? I have applied every moisturizer on the store shelves and yet I am still flaking and my skin feels itchy and irritated. If so, it is time to introduce them to one of your Dry Skin Treatments and give them information they need to stop this onslaught to the largest organ of the body.   Winter is very hard on the skin because the cold air takes most of the moisture out of the air outside as well as in our homes.

The first thing I ask them to do is stop showering in hot water every day. A daily hot shower in addition to the dry humidity in most of our homes is a bad combination. Instead I suggest no more than two or three warm showers a week using a very mild body cleanser.

Additionally I suggest adding a humidifier to their heating system and if that is not possible then add a small humidifier to their home or apartment, especially in the rooms where they spend most of their time. This will help the skin and mucus membranes receive enough moisture from the air inside their dwelling.

Lastly I recommend a series of 3 all over hydrating body mask; one a week for three weeks. Once the treatment is applied the client is wrapped in a thermal blanket and the product remains on the skin for at least 10 minutes. My favorite is the Oatmeal Body Mask. Once the mask is removed a body balm or essential oil is applied all over the skin. This is a one-hour treatment.

Since we have all seen the news of all the winter storms we have been having, now is a good time to let your client’s know you may not be able to control the weather but you can help with all the dry skin these wintery blasts can cause to our skin.
